"Our Lebanese arbitration lawyers of choice – a professional international outlook and readiness to go the extra mile" -Chambers Global
OLF has established a first-class international arbitration practice that is recognised for its commitment to excellence and expertise in Middle Eastern Legislations. Our lawyers act as parties' counsel, arbitrator or expert. We advise clients at every stage - from drafting complex arbitration clauses to enforcing arbitral awards.
Led by Professor Nayla Comair-Obeid, the firm’s arbitration team combines international best practice with essential local know-how. With acknowledged arbitration specialists engaged in some of the most significant English, French and Arabic-language arbitrations in the MENA region, our arbitration practice offers unparalleled regional expertise and wide-ranging capabilities.
The firm has been regularly recognized as having one of the world's leading arbitration practices. It consistently features in the annual edition of the Global Arbitration Review 100 (GAR 100), the guide to the world's leading specialist arbitration firms. GAR has described our firm as "a focal-point for international arbitration in Lebanon" where "both firm and founder have since emerged as significant factors in the development of arbitration in Lebanon and the Middle East".
Obeid Law Firm is also a contributor to “GAR Know How” and was selected to be the exclusive author of the Lebanon Chapter on international arbitration. At the request of the International Bar Association (IBA), the firm has authored the IBA Arbitration Guide for Lebanon. We have also previously helped translate the IBA Guidelines for Drafting International Arbitration Clauses (the IBA Rules) into Arabic. The firm’s services were retained to prepare the first draft of the amended arbitration law in Lebanon which was promulgated in its final form in 2002.
Our international arbitration group has further contributed to the revision of the Arabic version of the new rules of the International Chamber of Commerce (the 2012 ICC Rules). We have also contributed to the drafting of the Guide to National Rules of Procedures for Recognition and Enforcement of New York Convention Awards, published by the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris.
As a member of the international panel of leading legal experts to the ILO publication, the firm is also the exclusive contributor to the ILO Arbitration newsletter for Lebanon.
